Artwork title : The Green Turtle
The green turtle is one of the endangered species. It comes back to the land to lay eggs every year, but the vanishing coastline, human interface, and water pollution all damage their chances of survival. In the recent decades, people have given more and more attention to the protection of this group of genies from the ocean. Every year the news of the newly hatched baby turtle striving to find their way back to the ocean always brings a sigh of relief upon people’s face.
This painting was inspired by a photo on the news. As a green turtle freely swimming in the deep, blue water, the shadow of human habitations in the background haunts their living environment. The aquatic plants that are softly waving with the flow are their major food source, but a glimpse of a plastic bottle is visible on the right. A baby turtle is trying its little feet for its first time of swimming. It is on its own from the moment of being laid out as an egg against all the odds of survival.
While creating an enchanting underwater world, the artist reminds viewers that more efforts are still waiting to be made.
