Artwork title : 8640 Part II
Oil on canvas - 157 X 89 cm - painting of the classic midwestern family home. The slanted and skewed composition contributes the slanted and skewed idea of the long dead and so-called "American Dream"
This series of paintings and embroideries is a reflection on the 2008 housing forclosuer crisis and economic recession in the USA, where thousands of banks tricked mid to low income families into taking out home-loans, although these banks had the knowledge that the housing market was soon to colapse, but the houses could be collected as repayment.
This displaced millions of Americans and lead to a significant increase in homelessness. Little to nothing was ever done to rectify the situation of those effected, and infact this type of loan practice is still used today.
