Artwork title : Glutton shoe-shaped gold ingot

Taotie, an ancient divine beast, was born in the East. According to the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", it is shaped like a sheep's body and human face, with eyes under the armpits, tiger teeth and human claws, and its sound is like that of a baby.

There are various theories about the origin of gluttony, one of which is said to be that the land of Jiuli was once suffering from the invasion of poisonous trees. The tribe's "Xi" was entrusted by the leader Chi You's soul to swallow his head, devour the trees, and transform into gluttony, saving the tribe from calamity.

Confucius said: It is enough to die at night after hearing the Tao. Taotie interprets Eastern classical heroism in the form of a martyr. For a long time, it has been misunderstood as a greedy and vicious creature, but in retrospect, it is actually an ancient divine beast that "sincerely protects the Lord and blesses the people".

Artists have integrated gluttony into the shape of ingots, giving rise to a gluttony baby lying on its back, smiling and holding its tail. With a calm and composed demeanor, the ferocious aura of the annihilated beast flows with auspicious signs; The beard is unrestrained, surrounding the body, with gluttonous patterns lying on the armor, and the divine phase gradually emerging.

The ancient East represents a mysticism that is captivating, and our culture and folk customs also flourish here. In the body of gluttony, the artist glimpses the fearlessness of the Easterners - a national spirit of sacrificing life for righteousness, which has always been hidden in our bloodline and continues to this day. Integrating traditional and contemporary art, shaping the ancient mythical beast gluttony, expressing the artist's love for tradition and reflection on the present.
