Artwork title : On the Styx
"On the Styx" format 50x50x5cm, assemblage (materials: photos, stones, colored sand), 2025
For this work, I used facial images cut from old portrait and wedding photographs, stones and colored sands. The oval shape of the face reminded me of the rounded shape of a stone rolled by waves. I placed them in the middle of a stream. Its current is full of memories that will slowly be forgotten. Ancestors pass away. We forget what once was. That's the way of things. But at the same time, some kind of unconscious memory carries through the generations.
My artistic interests revolve around assemblage, collage, acrylic painting, and short forms of text. When creating assemblages, I use objects that engage the sense of touch – ordinary, everyday, seemingly trivial things. They become a pretext for reflection and for seeking a universal, timeless meaning.
