System I
Acrylic on birch wood
Mixed media | 2025
The work consists of a grid of individual birch wood squares, each measuring 5 × 5 cm.
Each unit is painted and placed edge to edge, forming a continuous, modular field.
The grid functions as the primary organizing principle.
Through direct contact between identical elements, directions, densities, and intervals emerge and define the overall structure of the work.
Color operates as a minimal intervention within the system, creating zones of visual weight, transition, and tension.
Neutral and colored units influence one another and shape the reading of the surface as a whole.
The work examines how relationships arise when all elements share the same dimension.
Meaning is generated through position, adjacency, and distribution rather than through symbolism.
The structure itself is the subject.
System I observes how variation enters a uniform system through small decisions,
and how internal balance develops from repetition, difference, and relational order.
