Artwork title : Spiky

Spiky is a series of six paintings, using wood and oil on canvas. The wooden spikelike
objects are glued to the canvas in an unordered fashion. This composition
carefully detaches the painting from its two-dimensional constraints, blurring the
lines between form and texture.
Combining wood and oil on canvas results in unequal absorption of oil into its surfaces.
Oil on wood increases pixel density and darkens color through absorption. In
contrast, oil on canvas preserves pixel density, generating a bright, blue color. This
facilitates the simultaneous presence of a monochromatic yet dynamic expression.
The aggressive application of varnish intensifies light reflection, heightening the
contrast between illumination and shadow. The series therefore becomes remarkably
sensitive to variations in light exposure and is perceived differently from varying
distances and angles.
Repetition and monochromatic simplicity seek to enable the exploration of singular
emotions, unveiling subtle nuances.
