Mephistopheles is a quartet of wall-hung works. Each work renders one verse of a

four-part poem as engraved wood carvings in coloured HDF (high-density fibreboard),

reading as a single installation across the wall.

The poem considers Mephistopheles’s seductive character and its relationship to

human yearning, with Johann von Goethe’s Faust as a guiding reference.

This series is the first part of a three-part project. It will be accompanied by

Anthropos and Gabriel, the remaining parts of a triptych that continues the enquiry

into human nature and the divine.
