Artwork title : Marigold Sunrise
Over the past 12 months I have worked on the interpretation of nature in Australia, whereby I create larger works by assembling small colorful elements into a single view of the subject matter. The objective is to portray and assemble the myriad of nature’s brilliant colors and textures, using recycled acetate sheets, cut into small squares of around 42mm.
In this work I have focused solely on the orange, red and golden colors of Marigolds as they celebrate the warmth of the early morning sun. 324 acrylic-painted, individual acetate squares have been assembled and adhered to the 76cm x 76cm canvas. This expresses the joy I gain from creating works that shine with color and optimism. The work invites viewers to touch it to further sense the diversity of nature’s textures.
