Artwork title : A way of being

I work with mirrors as means to explore ideas about reflections, identity, and the nature of art. As my art is geometric in nature, I chose to use a pyramid where three mirrors would connect and compose a whole, allowing the viewer to circle the artwork and find different perspectives and reflections. Each mirror corresponds to the others in colors and shapes, while still having a different composition. I wanted this piece to be able to reflect the gallery it is in, so that other artworks situated in the same space are reflected in it, opening a dialogue. That is the reason that after much consideration, I decided to leave much of the mirrors exposed. I named it "A Way Of Being" because I feel it's receptiveness to the world around it is in a manner – a way of being. I was influenced by Emmanuel Levinas writings, regarding ethics as optics, and our responsibility towards the Other. This artwork, I feel, is connected to everything around it, it is always in relation to something or someone (much as we are). For me, it reminds that there's always an Other around us, for whom we have a moral responsibility, as people standing around this artwork are connected through it.
