Azusa Okamoto Japan Painting

Artwork title : Japanese Star Festival with inspirations from Mucha & Gustav Klimt

Technique & Materials used: Watercolours, Pigments and ink

Year: 2020

I tried to depict the traditional Japanese event on the European art style getting inspirations from Mucha and Gustav Klimt.
The theme: Japanese star festival was often illustrated on ukiyoe by the famous artist such as Hiroshige Utagawa. You can enjoy the exquisite beauty of the marriage of the European art and Japanese ukiyoe on this artwork.
The golden background glitters in light, which I coloured with pigments trying to immitating Gustav Klimt's gorgeous RIMPA art style.

An Italian professor who researches Ukiyoe and very well acquainted with the European art history, Paolo Linetti gave me a high appreciation on this artwork.
