¡ Si no compra, no “mallugue” !, is a piece designed and made with 2 layers of coloured glass filaments on a glass base with the technique of glass fusion and modeled in the furnace which imitates a plastic fibre bag with coloured plastic handles held by a nail made of steel with an electro painted finish, all this is mounted on a metal sheet powder coated finish frame, and MDF (medium density fiberboard) support on back.

The piece ¡ Si no compra, no “mallugue” !, is a part of the EL MANDADO series.

“El Mandado” is a glass tribute to the traditional shopping bags used in Mexico.

Since Aztec times, the colourful baskets used to carry market goods—called «bolsas del mandado»— were made from “ixtle” - a fibre extracted from the maguey cactus. These natural fibres were later substituted by multicoloured plastic mesh, becoming fashionable bags internationally.

Due to my interest in culture and my pursuit to arouse uncertainty in the viewer´s mind, I work with coloured glass stringers, designing and overlaying them in order to simulate plastic fabric and portray the volume, movement and creases of the typical “bolsa del mandado”.
