On a cloudy day this adult tern was flying directly toward me, scouring the water for small fish, when I snapped this photo right before he darted another direction. What is interesting about this photo is the simple lines that are created from the tern’s narrow beak pointing at an exact downward position as well as the beautiful diagonal spread of its thin wings.  A glimpse of its pointed black tail feather perfects the natural aerodynamic design of the tern.
