Artwork title : Exhausted man
A modern person can be described as a "hamster in a wheel," stuck between routine and mass consumption culture, where not only objects but also people themselves are perceived as "disposable" participants in functions or processes. We live in a culture of excess objects, surrounded by things we essentially do not need, and we discard and replace used items (as well as "exhausted" people) with others... Therefore, in my work, I try to find a connection with sustainability by using already used items in my creations, thus stepping out of my usual (painterly) creative field of "comfort zones."
For the piece, I used socks knitted by me and worn out by family members over the last 3 years.
I cannot claim that this work is finished as of today. I myself question whether it can ever be finished, as "consumption" never ends, only the needs change, and the feeling of temporariness and "disposability" only grows stronger over time. Therefore, I believe that this piece requires continuity and massiveness to achieve the desired meaning and expression effect.
