Artwork title : Lilac Moon
I am a London based visual artist working primarily with photography. My practice or area of interest lies in finding beauty in the mundane, the ‘Ordinary’ the ‘Everyday’ and the ‘Banal.’ I find true beauty is in the ordinary and everyday,
often overlooked insignificant objects and scenes that exist in daily life (at home or outside).
Whether, it is accidental compositions of domestic still life at home or the discarded objects on the streets in London. An inverted reflection of a tree, building or traffic light in a puddle of rain water. You will often find me taking images of leaves and other discarded objects on the pavements in their ‘now’ environs, or other interesting splatter compositions one might come across.
My work seeks to unpack different narratives of ‘the everyday' either by defamiliarization or placing it in a different context. Sometimes by placing two images together or inverting them to alter their perception.
I often like to create an idea of doubt in my work to engage the gallery audience,
to question the true nature of the image, how it came about, and ‘what is it’?. Images often reveal themselves upon closer inspection.
This particualr images is an inverted image of a bulding reflection in water, And on the top a discarded object seeemed like a crescent moon.
