Artwork title : Sunshower
Inspiration for her painting comes from her high curiosity about art material. For her paintings, she uses her original material that reproduces Japanese traditional Sumi ink using a chemical reaction like photosynthesis and oxidation. As a result, the "Black" ink shows blue, orange, purple and other colours at the same time. The outcome varies depending on how she drips ink on the paper, what kind of components the paper has, how much water it contains, how it gets dried and how many layers the painting has. She also uses Japanese traditional paper called Washi which sensitively absorbs the ink, and shows settled and beautiful bleeding. She begins with painting free of any prejudices, and following the mutual interaction between her and the materials, unexpected occurrences suggest to her what comes next. In this way, the material is free from her operation and can show genuine potential in itself. She carefully perceives how dripped ink stains on a piece of paper change its appearance while getting dried: shapes, colours, compositions or pictorial space. Continuing this process allows her to feel that spontaneous painting has something to tell us with a sense of meaning. She also places importance on the logical necessity of the material used. Although she coolly and objectively gives a title to the painting through her daily notions, thoughts and interests in philosophy, she finally completes the expression.
