The tradition of the Muslim birth ritual involves the sacrifice of a sheep and coincides with the choice of a first name for the infant. The animal is then prepared according to a popular recipe (Méchoui). This tradition symbolises the integration of the child into social and religious life. Depicted on a golden background, the roasted part of the animal (saddle) line up with an Arabic first name. This memento mori follows issues the artist has been developing over the years on the embodied body, its limits but also on power relations.
