Artwork title : Flying Sofa

Flying sofa, acrylic on canvas, 90 x 150 cm, 2019

The main motif of my painting is a sofa, usually associated with the comforts of life, it symbolizes uncertainty and loss of a sense of security in the built human world. The harmony has been disturbed, the sofa has no legs - there is nothing to stand on, we levitate . A hard, perhaps concrete floor is contrasted with a dynamically painted dark blue wall in which you can see the turbulent movement of the river or the dark sky. There is no stable life. I painted the picture combining realism and baroque light with abstract expressionism. This deliberate juxtaposition of many painting languages emphasizes the complexity and diversity of the modern world. A world full of contrasts, uncertainty of existence and lack of harmony. In my painting there are many layers of paint that create a colorful, complex structure of the painting. It is the result of a long painting process and a form of painting recording the passage of time.
