Artwork title : The Observers

This oil painting exposes the oddities of living as an expat foriegner. I have included my children as subjects in the painting, traveling in a boat in a distant land. The landscape includes bizarre, other worldly animals, the crocodile, bear and bull which represent power structures. In this world, my children (who are stand-ins for myself), wearing a mask are situated as the "other" in a world that is entirely "other".
