Kai Ruhland Germany Installation

Artwork title : X

"X"

With the photographic installation "X" Kai Ruhland reverses the principle of the principle of the medium of photography and tests its limits. The focus is on the question: Do we mean the same thing when we speak of reality?

The recipients and the whole environment are reflected in the glass plates. In this way, they become a part of what is represented. The "promise" that photography is exact and objective, is annulled at this point. The landscape photographs, were printed on the glass by silk-screen and digital printing
and burned in.  The "reality" that was photographically isolated, becomes a part of the environment again through the mirrored interaction with it.

With scrap wood, which carries and supports the glass plates, relates
Kai Ruhland, in addition to alienated landscape photographs a
part of our cultural landscape into the work and raises the question of what
our role in the terrestrial ecosystem, where we see ourselves and how we deal with it.

In both thematic levels which Kai Ruhalnd takes up with the installation "X", he is concerned with our perception and what is and what we perceive. About how we see things and believe how things are. The questions he keeps consciously open.
