This is the music video of the song “deadstart”, which was performed by the Japanese band, COCK ROACH.

“deadstart” consists of loops of simple and short Japanese words,

but as all COCK ROACH’s works are, it is the song about life and death.

“Sei wo oe, Shi ni susume”

The short Japanese words which is repeated in the latter part of the song,

own 2 of totally opposite meanings, with using different Kanji characters.  

And it appeals one universal message, saying that you should not wait for the death which all lives go to,

but do your best to carry out your own life.

 

In this video, we visualized the inner world of a man, who gives up his life, tries to hang his neck and fails it,

and gave expression to the song with organic and psychedelic and hypnotic visuals.

Takahiro Tomatsu, the main actor, is an improvisational dancer, and the documentary film about him will be released in this winter.

Keisuke Miyoshi, the director of this video, is also known as a VJ who makes hypnotic and mind-blowing visuals,

and be selected for “100 videographers in Japan”.
