The diptych Date with Hermes was inspired by a recurring dream about a portal to my death in the antiquities wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Dreams can be described as openings that foster collaboration between the living and the non-living. Hermes, a guide and communicator between the living and dead, is a figure embodying the liminal place between dreamwork and consciousness, life and death, past and present, myth and reality.
