Human beings are the only species on Earth that make objects. Whether gigantic or microscopic, they surround themselves with them, insert them into their bodies, and even create reproductions of themselves for all kinds of purposes. Some objects have a long life, others are ephemeral, and all end up being discarded or replaced. It seems that what obsesses the human species is not the object itself, but the act of making it.
