Artwork title : Disney's Terraforming the Blues
The video is an artifact that inspires a performance I stage called "Terraforming Blues" that visualizes the human impact on Earth using the technology of satellite remote sensing. During the performance, I deliver the following spoken word poetry while a dancer physicalizes my words and a harmonica player converses back to me. The work is installed with headsets that allow the visitors to hear the blues harmonica playing. The text below is from the live stage performance connected to this video.

[Danielle] During 2022, NASA celebrated the 50th anniversary of the launch of LandSat 1, the first in a series of 9 satellites that have been operated by the government of the United States with the mission to acquire images of all the land on earth on a regular basis [harmonica]. Since 1972, the program led by NASA and the United States Geological Survey has always had at least one satellite orbiting the earth every hour and a half [harmonica]. This orbital path over the rotating earth gives the satellites the opportunity to pass over every location on earth approximately every 2 weeks [harmonica]. Flying in a sun-synchronous orbit allows the satellite to see each location with the light from the sun at the same angle at the same local time [harmonica], which is an ideal method to gain a view of how the land is changing.
