Artwork title : Animus

Relief print in wood engraving, hand-carved and hand-printed on yellow Hahnemühle paper. Edition of 12.
This print is inspired by Carl Jung’s definition of the animus, understood as the masculine counterpart within the female psyche. Here, that internal force is represented as a fierce dragon, embodying psychic strength, desire, and conflict. At the center of the composition, the word Animus appears as an ambigram, emphasizing transformation, dual reading, and psychological complexity. Within the burgundy ornamental passages, miniature erotic scenes allude to instinctive and untamed aspects of the same woman, extending the work’s exploration of inner multiplicity. The piece brings together symbolic narrative and meticulous wood engraving to examine the tension between sexuality, identity, and the layered structure of the self.
