Artwork title : Caruso
Caruso – Lot. 12/426
This work is part of a Trash Art practice that transforms discarded and fragile materials into carriers of memory and identity. Rough burlap, burned paper, plastic fragments, and industrial residues are layered and stitched together, creating a tactile surface that oscillates between decay and preservation. The name “Caruso” evokes a voice that once resonated with emotional intensity, now reduced to a trace—almost erased, yet still present. The stamped typography recalls archival systems, cataloguing, and the human attempt to assign order and permanence to what is inherently transient. Through processes of burning, tearing, and assembling, the piece reflects on the fragility of cultural memory and the transformation of value: what is thrown away becomes significant again. The contrasting elements—organic textures and synthetic interventions, soft fabrics and rigid lines—create a visual tension between vulnerability and control. “Caruso – Lot. 12/426” invites the viewer to reconsider the overlooked, to find beauty in imperfection, and to recognize that even in fragmentation, something essential endures.
