Artwork title : La mattina
Oil on canvas, in progress 36”x48” In La Mattina, the artist captures the quiet vulnerability of waking life through a fragmented yet tender self-study. The body is constructed in angular planes and earthy tones — ochres, siennas, rusts, and soft slate blues — evoking the warmth of sun-kissed skin and the cool stillness of morning air. The cubist approach — deconstructing form into crystalline geometry — transforms the nude into a poetic architecture of self. Here, the figure is not revealed all at once, but rather discovered, piece by piece, as morning discovers the body through light. The interplay of warm terracotta against soft mint, ivory, and lemon-hued background panels mimics that transition from dream to day. Still partially in outline, the work reveals its own process: the vulnerability not just of the figure, but of becoming. The sketch lines echo like morning thoughts — unfinished, forming, alive. The contrast between the resolved and the in-progress portions allows the viewer to witness both structure and soul.
