Artwork title : Bembé

The work Bembé is an imaginary of how I represent the black spirit, that Afro part that we all have, whether inherited or learned. In my case, as artists, I was born black, something that already has an unparalleled weight on me is the ancestral history that haunts me and gives me strength. Bembe in my country is a ritual of African origin characterized by drumming, a mystical festival where my descendants celebrated their sorrows and joys with dance and music. The work of art entitled Bembé is a tribute and celebration of the heritage and cultural diversity inherited from black ancestors. The work of art is a celebration of color and sensuality, but above all it exalts the beauty and mystery of the Afro-descendant history of my country, Puerto Rico.
