Artwork title : Shalmirane
This artwork takes us to the exceptionally mysterious place storied in The City and The Stars, a fantastic novel by Arthur C. Clarke.
The first thing that captures your eye is an infinite sunshine stream spreading over across the sky and its brilliant beams sparkling through tree crowns. Rich tinctures of yellow gouache perfectly match the opalescent dabs of the golden paint in the top segment of the scene. Right there, we enjoy the striking effect of the fractal dendrite structures, so natural for monotypes, as they ideally reflect those incredibly enormous trees, whose tops are caressed by the sun, as told in the book. Those king-size tousles are brought in front of your view by the monotype trick, giving a glimpse of how they would look like right after creation.
It makes it possible to feel the depth of the overall picture, leading you to the heart of the forest, emphasized even more by the brightly shining luminary. The terrain seems mantled with the magical power of attraction.
Generally speaking, the impression from this artwork alludes to the viewer’s senses in an astonishing manner. The monotype emanates an incredible avalanche of warmth fared with vibrations of the pulsing energy. Referring us to the scene in the book, the artist chooses this color range due to her interpretation of Clarke’s novel she read.
Perhaps, the artist thought of the ancient Greek city ruins, but it remains under wrap, both in the book and at the author’s monotype.
