River Story I ( mixed media, 80 x 90 cm, 2021) is part of Inna Rogatchi's Smile Me a River collection of expressive river landscapes. The work is created in the artist's signature technique, it is original drawing in various mediums ( watercolour, oil pastel, wax pastel, hand-applied pigments of precious metals) on authored original pigment print on Hahlemuhle cotton paper mounted on board. The work is metaphorical reflection on the situation in which millions of people are living today, in the complex and uneasy environment, with multiplied stresses caused by the pandemic and continuing for two years by now - but still, with striving for hope and strength emphasised in the warmth and light portrayed in the work. This symbolism is not only about the current uneasy situation world-wide, it is also a general methaphore and expression of a human need to overcome the difficulties and disappointments, to prevail in life with warmth and light even in the coldest and darkest circumstances.
