Artwork title : A Boundaried Family: Cat in Square and Kitties in Envelopes

Dimensions: 52x32x1 cm

Impression from Jona Woods, Joan Miro, Micheal Duchamp and David Hackney, I adapted folk arts from Japan and China mixing with Pop art to paint cata and kitties. I tried to draw thw cat and kitties full of the envelopes and paper to show how is social norms and individual norms boardaried cats as a cage to discuss freedom and identity in society. In parallel, it is also discuss the limited living space of individual in HK which limited space is like a a cage. I also adapted the simplification and symbol from maps since I am a land surveyor as a professional for producing map. I had find that the origin of all items in the world is point, line, polygon as geomatics and also the basic forms of visual. Therefore, I adapted sqaure to paint the cat and kitties. In short, sqaure also means the regulation and norms in the society. Since cats lives very freely apart from dogs, cats and kitties performs freedom.
