I use the blind contour technique to create abstract pieces with a focus on influences in my life, whether it includes people, experiences, or current events. My style reveals a dynamic marriage of line, color, and narrative for the viewer. I painted "Black Sheep 1" as a way of experimenting with a new approach on style by overlapping subject matter in organized chaos. The symbolism behind this piece involves how I felt as the black sheep of my upbringing in a Southern Baptist family with traditional values. Feeling like the outsider of a foreign practice, I led a nomadic lifestyle until I found what fit for me. I draw inspiration from artists such as Jackson Pollock, Marc Chagall, Egon Schiele, and Oswaldo Guyasamin.
