“CAMOUFLAGE”

The thing about the society is that it expects us to be the best version of ourselves. It wants us to dress nicely, behave immaculately and always act like everything is perfect. Otherwise, people will judge you or look at you in the wrong way. And even though, it is a human thing to feel worse, we sometimes put on a mask that covers the unhappy inside, which can be compared to dead flowers.

I painted the woman and the mask in black and white colors because even though we try to hide our true emotions under the mask, they are visible on the outside. It is impossible to fully cover your feelings because they are often revealed unintentionally by the way we move, behave or talk. The dead flowers painted instead of the woman’s face symbolize our everyday sorrows that we do not want to show or share and therefore we wear “the happy mask”.

Concluding, we all try to camouflage ourselves to fit the society norms, even though, being who we truly are, matters the most.
