Artwork title : Perception #29

Perception addresses the theme of photographic mutation towards post-photography in connection with the perpetual modification of our environment by the hand of Man. All the works in the series symbolize vegetal alterations represented here by the work of artistic transformation.

Concretely, in Perception, I reverse the directions, destructure, glue, counter-glue, crumple, assemble. The works in Perception do not resemble each other, each of them brings forward its own idea, its own mutation, either individually or as a series within a larger project encompassing different points of view. Whether it is through color, the physical destructuring of paper, the multiplication of images or video transformed into photography, all the works provoke the feeling of interfering with the landscape as well as the impact of Man on it.

However, I do not show in a brutal way the current ecological disaster through the various human "foolishness". It is an equally bitter observation, but more in the suggestion than in the direct affirmation. Just as in reality, some of the changes I make to the images are subtle, the landscape seems almost peaceful, in its natural state. But by looking more carefully at certain images, it appears very clearly that this one is unreal, that it underwent a mutation, often because of certain human tricks... On the contrary certain works are, more grotesque, spectacular in their appearance, as often the act of the Man on nature... The bigger it is, the more it passes!

By proposing a new reading of the imagery of our landscapes, Perception questions the future of our environment. Thus, the works question us on the future of photography, what to do after this post-photography?
To what "evolve"? What will we turn to when it is too late for our Earth?

The work perception #29 measures 80x120cm, limit of five copies. Printed on Japanese fine art paper / presentation under frame.
