Artwork title : Escape from the Crypt

This painting was inspired by a visit that Herbert made to Bologna where he found this mysterious spot. Pay attention to the upper side of the painting: Big Brother is Watching You!

The Crypt is in the San Pietro Church. It is the Cathedral of Bologna. The official name of this church is Cattedrale Metropolitana di San Pietro.

The history of Bologna Cathedral goes back to the beginning of the Christian era, although the first writings in which it is mentioned date from the 10th century. A fire in 1131 and an earthquake in 1222 caused extensive damage to the church, but both times it was restored, with the necessary changes.
