Ross Halfacree Australia Painting

Artwork title :

The genesis for this work unfolded during conversations with a friend who owns a large rural property in NSW, Australia. The work concerns the description of his thoughts and vision as he fought to save farm assets during the Gospers Mountain wildfires in late 2019.

During further conversations, it became clear the images embedded in his memory were the intimidation and terror of the vivid “fire-reds” and the desolation and death inferred by the black textures of the fire aftermath.

Like my recent works exploring the life cycle of the Australian bush, I used unique acrylic faced acetate squares (576) and assembled the colors, textures and ferocity into a large compilation on canvas. The canvas is 101cm x 101cm and framed.

I have backlit the work to enhance the fiery brilliance and to highlight the random patterns of the charred flora.
