As our society is turning into a virtual society, one can, today more than ever before, feel lonely - even in a room full of people. I wanted to recreate this feeling by painting a series (named Social Distancing) of paintings in which the portrayed figures are engaged with their own devices. By framing the series in a rectangular space, the visitor is entirely “ignored by the paintings” (the depicted portraits).
