"Ophelia" is a Tiffany stained glass made of many glass pieces, each piece being hand painted and soldered together.
We all know Ophelia's story from Shakespeare's play; it's a story of a broken heart and naivety. The barely connected pieces of glass suggest the turmoil and tearing of Ophelia's soul between duty and love. In this artwork, I used black color eclipsing the spiral of life or closing the access to a normal life and elements characteristic to the story: medieval arches, willow, flowers, a metal frame and especially water as a death bringing element but also as purification and peace.
It is a sad story that blends perfectly with the darkness and unhappiness of Shakespeare's play, Hamlet.
