Collage became to be the centre of my artistic production and my architecture background came to surface through it in many different ways. The execution of my works is sometimes free and spontaneous but, as in architecture, it always needs a decisive and defined gesture that structures the whole.
In this composition the particular expression of the materials was the starting point. The rattan mesh unchanging pattern resembles, to me, a monotonous and flat landscape. Being that mesh glued on paper, which can be seen through it, allowed me to create a two layers artwork and exploring different nuances and textures along the surface. The white organic shapes at the centre came up as accidents breaking the regularity of the net. Those find some sort of conclusion at the top, where that plastic piece, which was part of an old architecture model, crowns the painting. Its different material and position makes it to stand out and works as synthesis of the whole, combining the orthogonal configuration of the mesh with the convolution of the central forms.
